The responsibility of the volunteer coordinator is to "get the word out and the votes in". In 2000, thirty-nine secretaries of state and six election directors coordinated or co-coordinated their state's Mock Election projects. Other state coordinators ranged from a non-profit foundation in Alabama to a political science professor in New York state.
